Over the years, horror movies have come a long way but there is still that spookiness about the horror movies of the earlier times that make you cringe with fear. Maybe it is the sheer effort of getting into the character, the location, etc. Well, we got a little treat; start checking flight tickets because you definitely want to witness these 10 horror film locations.

Elm Street House, A Nightmare on Elm Street

This house isn’t actually on the Elm Street but the look of it just intact as all the movies it has, they been featured in including the A Nightmare on Elm Street II: Freddy’s Revenge, and following series.

Michael Myers’ House, Halloween

Recall the scene where Michael murders his older sister and her brother in this house. Located in Pasadena, California, this house is home to the Alegria Chiropractic Center, so you can only walk in with a doctor’s appointment, though you can see it from across the street.

Timberline Lodge, The Shining

Stephen King’s book The Shining actually gave us goosebumps. The same book was converted to a movie and took several exterior shots at the Timberline Lodge. While you are here, you can also indulge in snowboarding, skiing, and hiking.

Dr. Frank N. Furter’s Mansion, Rocky Horror Picture Show

If you have seen the horror-comedy musical, you cannot forget the mansion. The movie was shot in Bram Studios, England and at the Oakley Court Hotel which is actually the mansion of the Dr. Frank N. Furter and is now a hotel with many of the original movie structures still intact.

The Lighthouse, The Fog

Recall when goes to a lighthouse to host her radio show and the events that follow after. Well, the eerie lighthouse is Point Reyes Lighthouse in California, which is a 308-step walk down and is always covered with the fog just like the movie.

Palazzo Vecchio, Hannibal

The Romanesque Palazzo Vecchio from Ridley Scott’s Hannibal is one place you must see. In the movie, the fortress is where Lecter baits Pazzi, ties him up and murders him by cutting out some of his gastrointestinal organs and hanging them over a balcony.

The Stairs, The Exorcist

Remember the climax scene when exorcism was performed and Father Karras confronts the demon, is in turn possessed by it, and jumps off the window and falls down the staircase to sacrifice himself?

The gas station from the movie is now a horror-themed barbecue restaurant and also has cabins that guests can book a stay in.

Mercer Williams House, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

This house became famous even due to real events where the owner was convicted of murdering his lover. Well, this is the same house that is featured in the movie.

 

The UK’s Oakley Court Hotel

This hotel is seen in multiple horror films including The Brides of Dracula, The Plague of Zombies, And Now the Screaming Starts, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
