• Are there any groups or conventions booked in the hotel while you are there ?  A  large group could affect your stay in a negative way.

• If you will be using the hotel’s features such as shuttles, babysitting, free meals or recreational facilities, determine whether they will be available when you need them.  Don’t risk arriving at the airport and finding out that the shuttle service ended well before you needed it.

• When reserving a special room, be sure that you know what special means !   Is the "ocean view" room on the beach, near the ocean or just a peek through buildings and trees ?

• Learn the hotel’s check-in and checkout time.  Many hotels offer various time combinations to cater to the traveler’s needs.

• Get the hotel’s complete address and bring it with.  Ask a local for directions.

There may be charges, fees and taxes that you don't anticipate.  In many cases, taxes can be very high.  Be sure that you have budgeted for the additional cost.  Ask in advance about extra charges if you think there is a possibility that some may apply.

Is there a charge for parking ?.

Can you park a large SUV or RV in the lot free ?

• Is shuttle service complimentary ?

• How about phone calls, both local and long distance ?

• Are there charges for extra people, children, roll-aways or  extra beds ?

• What are the surcharges and taxes ?

• Name of the person/persons staying at the hotel.

• Number of people using the room.

• A valid credit card, with number and expiration date.

• Any specific location in the hotel where you may want to book a room.

• Dates and times of check-in in and check out.

• Any special type of room you may want to reserve, such as King, 2 Queens,  standard, business, suite, etc.

• Any additional requests, such as smoking/nonsmoking, hair dryer, ironing board, roll-away etc.

• Discounts or coupons that you plan to use.

• Your flight information. The hotel can then keep track of any delayed flights.

• When reserving multiple rooms, get a confirmation number for each room you book.  In the event that one is overlooked, you will have a separate confirmation number for each.  That will show that you have need for more than one room in case of a misunderstanding.

• If you are flying in, determine where you meet the hotel’s shuttle.  Is it at a fixed spot or must you call once you arrive ?

• Find out how often the shuttle runs and its hours of operation.  Ask if it will still be running if you are delayed.  If not, you may be better off  with a 24-hour service hotel..

• If driving, get good directions with complete address and local phone number, not an 800 #.
